2 Nephi 9:27-54 & 2 Nephi 10 (10/10)
Reading Assignment for class on 10/11/17: 2 Nephi 9:27-54 & 2 Nephi 10
Read this quote from Pres. Monson: “As I [have] turned to the scriptures for inspiration, a particular word [has] stood out time and time again. The word [is] ‘come.’ The Lord said, ‘Come unto me.’ He said, ‘Come learn of me.’ He also said, ‘Come, follow me.’ I like that word, come. My plea is that we would come to the Lord.”
Now look for the following words as you study today: “Come” and other action words that invite us to Christ like “remember”, “turn away”, “delight”, etc.
- What do you think Jacob is inviting us to do?
As you read 2nd Nephi 10. Try to figure out what gospel questions Jacob is answering and then identify his answers.
Want More?
Ezra Taft Benson:
“Nothing is going to startle us more when we pass through the veil to the other side than to realize how well we know our Father and how familiar His face is to us” (Ensign, Dec. 1988, p. 6).
Elder Neal A. Maxwell
“And if you sense that one day every knee shall bow and every tongue shall confess that Jesus Christ is the Lord, why not do so now? For in the coming of that collective confession, it will mean much less to kneel down when it is no longer possible to stand up!”
2 Nephi 10:23–24. “Ye are free to act for yourselves”
Elder D. Todd Christofferson of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles explained that Satan seeks to limit our ability to exercise our agency:
“[Satan] promotes conduct and choices that limit our freedom to choose by replacing the influence of the Holy Spirit with his own domination (see D&C 29:40; 93:38–39). Yielding to his temptations leads to a narrower and narrower range of choices until none remains and to addictions that leave us powerless to resist” (D. Todd Christofferson, “Moral Agency,” Ensign, June 2009, 49).
